Elizabeth House
Program Guidelines

Focus: Long-term Transitional Housing

  • Clients should expect to participate in the program at least six months, but no longer than 15 months.

  • Not to be utilized for short stays, such as weekends or overnights.

Staffing:

  • The program is under the supervision and direction of the Assistant Director of Family Support Services.

  •  The Property Coordinator resides on site and attends to physical management of the apartments only (repairs, lawn maintenance, keys, orientation of new tenants to the building, etc).

  • The Property Coordinator conducts monthly house/tenant meetings to address issues concerning rules of residing in the property and tenant concerns.

 Eligibility/Admission to the Program:

  • Elizabeth House serves varied populations based on need and fit into the apartment community.

  • Clients can have no more than one child.

  • Eligible clients must be currently working with a CC staff member; if the program person cannot make home visits, FSS case managers serve as case manager.  Coordination, communication, and collaboration between the case manager and the primary Catholic Charities program person is essential.

  • Referring agency staff person is responsible for completing the application packet with the client and submitted required materials to the Assistant Director of FSS.  Only the Assistant Director of FSS can approve clients to be admitted into the program.

  • Clients must have an OSBI background check.

  • A full interviewing process taking several weeks to complete.

Fees:

  • Tenants must be able to either pay the rent ($350 per month) or be receiving Section 8.  Tenants who have applied for Section 8 may be accepted dependent on their ability to pay rent until Section 8 approval is received.

Program Requirements:

  • Tenants must meet weekly with their case manager.

  • Tenants must work or go to school.

  • Tenants must be moving towards self-sufficiency.

  • Tenants must be committed to program components (as determined by agency program in which they are participating).

Program requirements are part of the lease agreement.
