St. Patrick’ Day Ball
is Huge Success
Approximately 400 people were in attendance at the St. Patrick’s Day
Ball on March 8 at the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club. This
was a record crowd for the Ball which benefited Catholic Charities’
Homeless Services in downtown Oklahoma City.
“We
thank everyone for attending the event and supporting Catholic
Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City,” Tim O’Connor,
executive director, stated. He added, “It was a wonderful
celebration honoring Lou Flanagan Ackerman, 2008 Grand Marshal, and
St. Patrick’s Day. We enjoyed the festivities, which included
dinner, program, live and silent auctions, music, and dancing.”
This
year, a record number of corporate sponsors supported the event. In
addition to the lead corporate Emerald Isle sponsor, Teleflora and
Meinders Foundation, thirty-one businesses and individuals were
Crystal sponsors and 16 businesses and individuals were Linen
sponsors. Other donations included monetary, in-kind donations, and
auction items.
“We
appreciate the generosity of so many people who volunteered their
time, money, and gifts to this charity event. It was a true success
because of everyone’s support,” Toby Boothe, Ball chairperson said.
Lou
Flanagan Ackerman, who was recognized at the event, invited everyone
to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Oklahoma City on
Saturday, March 15 beginning at 1 p.m.
